This coal contains LARGE lumps of anthracite, ranging from 1 1/2 inches in length up to 3 inches. These lumps are ideal of heating, specimen use, blacksmithing, and can be broken down into smaller pieces for applications that require small chunks, such as model railroad sets and water filtration.
Anthracite is the highest-carbon form of coal (82-86% carbon) and burns at 25 Million BTUs per ton. This coal is ideal for maintaining high heat in blacksmithing, smelting, glass forging, and for indoor heating in a properly fitted coal furnace, and has a long burning time and high heat output. This makes it a much more cost effective product to use in comparison to wood and other applications, and also has the added benefit of producing little to no smoke or residue while being burned.
Anthracite coal, also called hard coal, is the hardest and most compact variety of coal. It has the highest carbon content, fewest impurities, and the highest energy output out of all types of coal, and is the most premium coal type available for furnace and practical use. Anthracite coal ignites with some difficulty, but when it catches it burns without any tarry or smoky vapors due to it's natural purity.
